How to hold a presentation of a new product

The target consumer needs as much exposure to a new product is possible. This is because a target consumer will only associate a brand quality to a product that they know already. This is the reason why known brands tend to increase their product lines instead of starting a new brand for each product. This is because they know that people already recognized their brand and therefore will assign its qualities to their new products in their new product line.

This is not always the best thing to do since some bands cannot translate very well into other products. For example, the Harley Davidson brand has had a lot of trouble with failed product lines that do not include motorcycles. There is also the possibility that a brand will over-extend its product lines and lose sales on all fronts--this has been done by a few larger American beer manufacturers. This article covers a product presentation for a new product that is also running under a new brand.

Drip Drip Marketing

Before holding your presentation you're going to have to start a drip drip marketing.  You are going to have to expose your potential audience to your products so they become accustomed to seeing it. You must understand that the first reaction of most people when they see products that they do not recognized is to associate it with a product that they already know. Hence the reason why when a new product comes out, people say always say it is a "Something-something similar cheap knockoff." To dissuade people away from these mindsets you need to slowly introduce them to the product. In order to do this you will need to introduce people to its tagline, its design, you need to induce them to its logo, and up to its name. The task of introducing the customer to the quality of the item will be something you need to achieve a presentation itself.

Set up the familiar within the presentation

Setting up "The familiar" during the presentation is another way of saying that you need to marry your drip drip marketing with your presentation. Targeted marketing should have introduced your customers to your brands logo and its colors--it will be up to you to include these logos and colors in your presentation. The same goes for the tag lines you have used and any mascots you've used.

Invite the right people

If your product are general-public consumer-products then obviously you cannot invite teams of the general public because it will become too costly for too small of a return; although do not let this stop you from holding a party where you celebrate your products and give it away free to your public--as this is a very good marketing techniques that has worked well for the Bacardi producers. Inviting the right people in this case is going to mean inviting the people who are going to sell your product in their shops. You need to convince them that your product is going to be a good, fast and reliable seller so that they will give it pride of place in their shops. You can use a presentation to sign up deals with potential sellers to offer them discounts for the first few months in order for you to prove just how well you are product sells to the general public. Your presentation should also be attended by members of the media whom you will hopefully gain the support of.

When presenting

Speak of your product in the only positive terms and only address any negative aspects if you are asked about them directly. It is a good idea to have pre-prepared answers to potential negative questions about your products. It is also a good idea to have any form of proof/evidence you may needs to prove the things you are saying to your audience. Do not be afraid of being overly confident about your product at the point of being almost arrogant. You need to show a solid front of confidence about your product because any indication that it does not have your full confidence will scare off the audience. Do present your audience with facts and figures, but do not to make those facts and figures the foundation of your presentation. People are not going to purchase and sell your product simply because you give them a number of facts and figures. Even if the facts and figures are completely true, there is no reason why the potential buyers should believe them nor is there any reason why they should not ask for physical proof over the proof you appear to be providing.

Keep your presentation short and powerful

You can spend as much time as you like talking to your audience personally and answering questions at the end but make sure that your presentation itself is short, sharp and very concise. It needs to be a powerful selling speech and not a lecture on how great your product is--the lecture can wait until afterwards when your potential customers start asking questions.
