Traveling with an infant can give many a parent nightmares, especially if you're under close quarters for long periods of time. However, with careful planning and some helpful insight into what you may need to pack, you can be prepared to ensure your infant's comfort and happiness along your journey.

Lengthy Destination Routes

Whether you plan to travel by car, plane or train, your infant will be at the mercy of your schedule, and you need to prepare them for the upcoming adventure. To ensure that your child sleeps along the way, you can schedule their nap to coincide with part of your trip. For flights overseas, you can reduce the amount of jet lag they may experience by adjusting their schedule to match the time where you may be traveling.

Nursing Pillow

A nursing pillow has numerous benefits, one of which includes properly positioning your infant for breast-feeding. A nursing pillow is also ideal for traveling and long trips since it provides comfort to both the infant and mother when it's time for feedings. Other uses for the pillow include play time support so your infant can have fun and learn how to hold their head up and strengthen their core muscles. The nursing pillow can also provide your infant with a safe place to sit as it holds them in place and keeps them from teetering over.

Toys and Entertainment

Keeping your child happy and entertained while traveling is important, and you need to have the necessary toys on hand to prevent them from becoming cranky and bored. Put away some of their favorite toys before a trip and make them available en route to your destination. You can also purchase a few new toys and unveil them during your travels. They're sure to be mesmerized by the new items and become less bored.

Necessities Only

Parents can often over pack for a trip and bring more than they'll ever need for their infant. Smart packing includes the items that can serve multiple purposes such as a play yard, stroller and changing bag. A large diaper bag can hold the major items you'll need when getting to your destination such as wipes, diapers, formula, snacks, toys and a change of clothing. A play yard is ideal for providing your infant with a safe and clean environment to sleep and take a nap in. It's also lightweight and easy to transport. Traveling long distances can become tiring, especially if you're carrying your baby around. A portable stroller makes it easy to transport your child around airports, shops and restaurants. They can also be stowed in a car or plane with little difficulty.

Whether you're traveling overseas or just a couple of hours away, keeping your baby safe and happy is important. With the right accessories, baby gear and toys to prevent boredom, you can have an enjoyable and stress-free travel adventure with your child.
