Ranked as the sixth largest industry in the entire world, the automobile industry in India is an excellent employment sector. The following article takes a quick look at the same with an elusive reference to Renault India careers.

One of the larger markets in India, the automobile industry of the country is the sixth largest in the world and also the fastest growing. In 2009, India emerged as Asia's fourth largest exporter of passenger cars. The next year (2010) India beat Thailand and went on to become Asia's third largest exporter of passenger cars.

In 2011, the industry recorded a whopping 3.9 million units of production in the unit of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. According to recent reports, the Indian automobile industry has beaten other market leaders in the same field like the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium and others. Till date the industry, has hired and retained the maximum number of employees and with the gradual growing trend, it is estimated that the industry is about to generate even more jobs in the forthcoming years.

However, though the first cars in the streets of India rolled until 1897, the first constructive automotive company came into existence only during the 1940s, when Hindustan Motors was set up in 1942 in West Bengal. It produced the Ambassador that is now widely used as a Taxi cab especially in the eastern part of the country. The Ambassador is still used by the government

Later, Mahindra and Mahindra was set up by two brothers in 1945. Following the country's independence, the Indian government along with the private sector, worked towards promoting the automobile industry of the country. This step yielded results and gradually the automobile industry began to grow. The automobile industry underwent a drastic change when the Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki entered the Indian car market in the mid-1980s. This was followed by several other car manufacturers and now by 2012, the Indian car manufacturing industry is one of the largest in the world.

After the success numerous car manufacturers have ventured into the market and some of the names include

  • Force Motors and others.

Renault India Private Limited is a subsidiary of Renault SA of France. The company has its headquarters in Mumbai with the manufacturing unit based out of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Established in 2005, Renault India Private Limited is a joint venture between Renault SA and Mahindra and Mahindra.

One of the leading car manufacturers in the Indian subcontinent, Renault India of late has become one of the hottest employers in the automobile industry. After the dissolution of the Mahindra and Renault India, the latter joined hands with Nissan India, a subsidiary of the Japanese giant Nissan Motor Company to carry on with their further manufacturing proceedings. Just like any other automobile manufacturers, aspirant job seekers can find job openings with Renault India suiting their qualifications and profile. They have openings in the manufacturing sector as well as finance and marketing. They employ engineers and financial analysts.
