Be Bold
If you are ever going to do it, now is the time. Don't fall into the trap of putting it off until the time is right. Before you know it you're going to be 40 or 50 years old and wow, what happened?
Be bold. Wake up everyday and tell yourself your dream job is at your fingertips. Be confident. Even if you don't feel confident, fake it. Don't sit back and wait. Go after your dream.
Be Honest
Your dream job is about passion. You might think about the cool things that will come along with it, like money and travel and really good drinks. But those things aren't what make your dream job your dream job. It's your passion that does that.
It might take one, two, or five different jobs before you land your dream job. That's okay though. You'll appreciate it so much more when it arrives. But always aim for your passion. Keep it in sight, like a lighthouse. Because that's exactly what it is.
Rid Yourself Of Negative People
You know who they are. They love spreading doubt. That's what they're good at.
Why? Because they are afraid. They aren't bold enough to go for it, and they want some company down in the trenches. Don't let that be you.
Do not surround yourself with naysayers. If they are your friends, get new ones. If they are your family, either tell them you don't want to hear it or limit your time spent with them. There's no in-between with this one. You have to make a choice.
Pay Your Bills
While you're going after your dream job, you are still going to have to pay your bills. A good way to do this is through temp work. Places like Madison Temp Agency are perfect for folks who are going after their dreams.
You never know what can come out of temp work. You will be able to expand your network and get the inside scoop on some of the big companies. It will look good on your resume too.
Don't Get Distracted
This happens to lots of people. The problem is you can wind up being distracted for 10 years. Don't let this be you. Keep your eyes on the goal. Sometimes buying a journal helps. It will help you stay focused and also give you confidence when you look back and see how far you've come.
Your dream job is out there. It's closer than you think too. Keep the faith.
