Google ChromeBook

There is a famous saying, 'While truth walks a mile, rumor travels around the globe.' Well, this is true in the case of Google, as it is stated that the search engine giant is all set to venture into the hardware business by manufacturing its own 'Chromebook.'

Till date the Chrome operating system was supplied by Google to OEM's like HP, Samsung, Acer and others. Per the leaked details, the device sports a stylish name 'Chromebook Pixel'. Google has an ambitious plan of launching the Chromebook solely designed by its engineers. The Chromebook is supposed to have the Ultra high resolution display as that of the MacBook Pro, which comes with the Retina display.

A lot of details about Google's Chromebook came to light due to a video leaked online. Reports reveal that the video was lifted by hacking the servers of Slinky.me. The CEO of Slinky has publicly apologized to Sergey Brin, the Google co-founder on the social networking site Google +, which has added to the excitement. In addition to this, the famous developer Francois Beaufort has claimed that he is aware of a laptop being named 'Link.' He states that the laptop comes with 4 million pixels and unique touch capabilities, which is being tested at Google's test centre, 'Mountain View Campus.'

The all new Google 'Chromebook Pixel' is also expected to feature a dual color lightbar scheme, which is designed to appear when the computer is turned on. It will also come with new animation features that appear between the startup and sleep mode, which cannot be found in other Chromebooks. Compal, the company based in China is said to have bagged the offer for manufacturing the Google Chromebook.

The video, which was leaked recently revealed an OS Github page with the following data:

Startup or wake from sleep, Google colors cycle in.

While running, > 25% power level in the battery:
All blue, in a breathing effect (cycle up and down 30%).

While running, <= 25% power level in battery: Same as above, but with red Shutting down, or going into sleep: Cycle out the Google colors (Note: the effect is only visible for S0->S3, because shutting down kills power to the lightbar before we can react).

The video also reveals that the Chromebook has a resolution of 2560/1700 pixels and a touch screen. It also carries a unique design, which makes it stand out from other Chromebooks. Apart from this, all other specifications have been kept highly confidential.

Is this what Google has planned for a surprise launch or is this a fake video? Only the future holds an answer to this. However, Google is slowly spreading its wings in all fields to transform itself into a unique company leading in all areas. The search engine giant has proved to be successful in diverse areas making it a standalone company with high authority over the Internet. Hope its venture into the hardware business turns fruitful.
